The 20th Annual HITS Thermal Desert Circuit
HITS Desert Horse Park, 85-555 Airport Blvd., Thermal, CA / Six-week hunter/jumper horse show circuit produced by HITS, Inc. that runs from January through March annually. The Desert Circuit has been a mainstay of West Coast competition for the past 20 years and offers classes ranging from Grand Prix show jumping to a selection of divisions for both the novice and experienced rider. In addition, four of the 16 Grand Prix events at HITS Thermal are FEI World Cup Qualifiers. Total Grand Prix prize money offered for the 2010 season is nearly $1 million, which includes the $300,000 Grand Prix of the Desert. The HITS Desert Circuit is the winter show home to some of the most accomplished equestrian riders in the world, including U.S. Olympic Gold Medalist Will Simpson and Canadian Olympian Jill Henselwood. Heather James Art & Antiquities is pleased to present Art of Japan. Art of Japan brings together an outstanding selection of the finest Japanese antiquities from the Edo and Meiji Periods in Japanese history. Odyssey: The Photographs of Linda Connor
Palm Springs Museum of Art, 101 Museum Drive, Palm Springs, CA 92262 / This remarkable exhibition of 96 photographs features work Connor produced from 1978 to 2008. During this time, Connor has sought out locales and traditions that convey the essence of time, faith, and place. Photography enables her to connect these concepts metaphorically to her subject matter. India, Indonesia, Turkey, Cambodia, Egypt, Tibet, Hawaii and the American Southwest are among the places she has photographed. Hidden Harvest Citrus Program
Hidden Harvest, a local non-profit organization, has established a program which collects excess citrus fruit to distribute to agencies that feed the hungry. This year, the City of La Quinta will serve as a collection site for the Hidden Harvest program. All residents, country club communities, and businesses are encouraged to drop off their just-ripe citrus between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at the City's collection site, which is located at the La Quinta Library parking lot (78-275 Calle Tampico). The 20th Annual HITS Desert Circuit
HITS Desert Horse Park, 85-555 Airport Blvd., Thermal, CA / Six-week hunter/jumper horse show circuit produced by HITS, Inc. that runs from January through March annually. The Desert Circuit has been a mainstay of West Coast competition for the past 20 years and offers classes ranging from Grand Prix show jumping to a selection of divisions for both the novice and experienced rider. In addition, four of the 16 Grand Prix events at HITS Thermal are FEI World Cup Qualifiers. Gayle Hodges, Well in the Desert Board member is pleased to announce her second annual Fool's Folly luncheon "Hats off to Fool's Folly and the Bag Ladies", to be held in the Bouganvillea Room at Spencer's Restaurant in Palm Springs. This luncheon/fashion show was sold-out last year so early reservations are suggested. Fifth Annual Garden Tour in Palm Springs
The Desert Horticultural Society of the Coachella Valley is sponsoring the Fifth Annual Garden Tour in Palm Springs on today from 1-4pm. Registration is from 12:45 to 3:30 at 515 N. Palm Canyon at the Corridor Shops located at the corner of Alejo and N. Palm Canyon in Palm Springs. Maps are available for the self-guided garden tour upon Registration. The tour is free and donations to the Desert Horticultural Society are accepted. Paul Ortega, the Society's President said, “Last year over 500 people attended the desert landscaped gardens and we expect an even a bigger turnout this year.” The Desert Horticultural Society has selected a variety of home gardens in Palm Springs which demonstrate the best in desert landscape design. The 6th Annual Taste of Palm Springs, presented by KAHLúA – Explore your Curiosity – Enjoy Your Curious Life Responsibly, will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at the Palm Springs Convention Center . This year, the event will highlight many local restaurants and food resources, spotlight savory cuisines from a diverse group of casual and fine dining establishments, and feature live musical entertainment. Proceeds from the evening will once again benefit AIDS Assistance Program, one of the desert's most worthy, community-based, “grass-roots” non-profit organizations.
